Athletics

Hello Lakeside Parents/Fans/Athletes,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 athletic year! While it isn't quite how we expected to start this era of Lakeside sports, we are excited to begin this new time in Knights sports. We join a new league (Scenic Idaho Conference) and look to build on our amazing success from last year. However, the overall story arch for this year will be our response to COVID-19. So here is some important information you will need to know for this year.

Lakeside is moving to a new classification, 1A-DI, and a new league this year, the Scenic Idaho Conference. Our opponents this year for league are Wallace and Genesis Prep. Only our games against those two schools will count for state representation, and that is for all fall and winter sports. This does not affect spring sports. As we are a three team league, our district tournaments will be #2 vs. #3 with the winner playing the #1 seed and the winner of that going to state. A nice, simple path to state. We are excited to join those two schools in a new era of sports and I know we cna show the rest of the S.I.C. who is the best team in the league!

Shifting gears, in this time of COVID-19, we are all wondering how this coming year will go when it comes to the pandemic and sports at Lakeside Jr/Sr High School. The most important thing when it comes to sports is the safety of our athletes and coaches. While studies continue to show us how to keep our youth safe, we know the athletic program is more than just them. It includes coaches, workers, administrators, and fans and it is important to keep them safe as well. The IHSAA has given schools guidance to help with that and we will keep it in mind going forward. As of writing this (July 24th), we are on track to start practice at high school on August 10th and middle school on September 8th. That could change in an instant and so please be patient. There will also be changes to how coaches conduct practice, especially near when we start, so please keep that in mind. It will be important for you to attend the parent meetings this year with your coaches.

Changes will be coming to home events as well. One of the best tools we have this year will be introduction of the Pixellot system and the NFHS Network at Lakeside. For the first time, you can stream Lakeside sports on your computer and through an official stream. Information on that will be released as we get closer to games. Along with that, changes to fan involvement at games, ticketing procedure, entry procedures, and fan opportunities will most likely take place so please keep an eye out for that as things start to get finalized.

We know things can change on a moments notice and so it will be important to keep your eye on official channels: here on the PSWD Website, on Facebook, and through our Instagram account. We look forward to this coming year and the support you will show our student athletes, coaches, and program! Once more information comes out, we will get it to you as soon as we can. Thank you, stay safe, and we hope to see you this year!
